You've just passed your first practical driving test. What will you have to do if you get six penalty points on your licence in the next two years?

If you accumulate six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test, you will have to:

1. Your driving license will be revoked by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). This is under the New Drivers Act.

2. You will need to apply and pay for a new provisional license.

3. You will have to pass both the theory and practical parts of the driving test again.

4. Once you've passed the tests, you will be issued a new full license.

5. However, the penalty points that were on your license before it was revoked will not be removed. They will stay on your license for 3 years from the date they were issued.

6. If you get any more penalty points during these 3 years, you could face further action, such as being disqualified from driving.
