Question
An object is placed 1.5 m from a plane mirror. How far is the image from the person?
Select an answer
A) 3 m
B) 1.5 m
C) 2 m
D) 1 m
Solution
The image formed by a plane mirror is always the same distance behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror. Therefore, if the object is 1.5 m from the mirror, the image will also be 1.5 m behind the mirror.
However, the distance from the person to the image would be the distance from the person to the mirror plus the distance from the mirror to the image. Since both of these distances are 1.5 m, the total distance from the person to the image is 1.5 m + 1.5 m = 3 m.
So, the answer is A3m.
