2. The second trophic level is made up of "Primary Consumers" or herbivores, which eat the producers. In our example, the rabbit that eats the grass is the primary consumer.

3. The third trophic level consists of "Secondary Consumers" or carnivores, which eat the primary consumers. In our example, the fox that eats the rabbit is the secondary consumer.

There can be more levels, such as Tertiary Consumers (carnivores that eat other carnivores), but this simple food chain illustrates the basic concept of trophic levels.
