Identify the two (2) parts of the nervous system and briefly explain their function.

The nervous system is divided into two main parts: the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).

1. Central Nervous System (CNS): The CNS is the main control center of the body. It consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The brain is responsible for processing and interpreting sensory information received from the rest of the body, and it also controls all voluntary and involuntary actions. The spinal cord, on the other hand, is responsible for transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body.

2. Peripheral Nervous System (PNS): The PNS connects the CNS to the rest of the body. It is responsible for transmitting signals from the body to the CNS and from the CNS to the body. The PNS is further divided into the somatic nervous system, which controls voluntary actions, and the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary actions such as heart rate and digestion.
