Solution

(a)

  1. Refractive Index: This is a measure of how much the speed of light reduces when it enters a medium from another medium. It is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to its speed in a specific medium.

  2. Real Image: This is the type of image that is formed when the light rays coming from an object actually converge at a point after reflection or refraction. Real images can be projected on a screen as they are formed on the same side of the lens or mirror as the light source.

  3. Virtual Image: This is the type of image formed when the light rays coming from an object appear to converge at a point after reflection or refraction. Virtual images cannot be projected on a screen as they are formed on the opposite side of the lens or mirror from the light source.

  4. Concave Mirror: This is a mirror that curves inward, like the inside of a bowl. It reflects light inward to one focal point, hence it is also known as a converging mirror. It can form both real and virtual images, depending on the position of the object.

  5. Convex Mirror: This is a mirror that curves outward, like the outside of a bowl. It reflects light outwards and it diverges light rays, hence it is also known as a diverging mirror. It can only form virtual images.
