Solution

Advantages and Disadvantages of Sexual Reproduction:

Advantage: One of the main advantages of sexual reproduction is genetic diversity. Because the offspring are a genetic mix of both parents, they will have a unique combination of traits. This diversity can increase the chances of survival of the species in changing environments, as some individuals may have traits that make them more adaptable to new conditions.

Disadvantage: A significant disadvantage of sexual reproduction is the cost in terms of time and energy. Finding a mate, courting, and the process of mating can be time-consuming and risky. Additionally, only half of the population (females) can bear offspring, which can limit the rate of population growth.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Asexual Reproduction:

Advantage: Asexual reproduction can be much more efficient than sexual reproduction. Since a mate is not required, organisms can reproduce whenever conditions are favorable. This can lead to rapid population growth. Also, all individuals can bear offspring, effectively doubling the rate of population growth compared to sexual reproduction.

Disadvantage: The main disadvantage of asexual reproduction is a lack of genetic diversity. All offspring are clones of the parent, so they all have the same vulnerabilities. If the environment changes, or a new disease appears, the entire population could be at risk.
