Solution

The vapour density of a gas is defined as half of its molecular weight.

So, Molecular weight = 2 * Vapour density = 2 * 128 = 256

We know that the molecular weight of S2 is 64.

The gas has the formula (S2)X, so its molecular weight is also given by 64X.

Setting these two expressions for the molecular weight equal to each other gives us:

64X = 256
