Volatile memory is computer storage that only maintains its data while the device is powered. As soon as the device is turned off, all information is lost from volatile memory. An example of volatile memory is RAM (Random Access Memory).

Non-volatile memory, on the other hand, is computer storage that can retain the stored information even when not powered. Examples of non-volatile memory include flash memory and read-only memory (ROM).

In simple terms, if you save something in volatile memory, it will be gone when you turn off your computer. But if you save something in non-volatile memory, it will still be there even after you turn off your computer.
