Solution

You should create an "Extended" partition. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Disk Management tool. You can do this by typing "Disk Management" into the search bar and selecting the "Create and format hard disk partitions" option.

  2. In the Disk Management window, you will see a list of all the drives and their partitions on your computer. Find the drive where you want to create the partition and right-click on it.

  3. From the context menu, select "Shrink Volume". This will open a new window where you can decide how much space you want to allocate to the new partition.

  4. After shrinking the volume, you will see some unallocated space on the drive. Right-click on this space and select "New Simple Volume".

  5. In the New Simple Volume Wizard, select the size of the volume (it can't be larger than the unallocated space), assign a drive letter, and select the file system (NTFS is usually a good choice).

  6. On the last page of the wizard, select the "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder" option and click "Browse". Choose a location for the new partition.

  7. Click "Finish" to create the partition.

Remember, an extended partition can contain multiple logical drives, so you can repeat steps 4-7 to create more partitions within the extended partition.
