Solution

In MLA format, the page number should be placed in the upper right-hand corner of the document. Here are the steps to do it:

  1. Open your document in Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on the "Insert" tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
  3. In the "Header & Footer" section, click on "Page Number" to open a drop-down menu.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select "Top of Page" to open a side menu.
  5. From the side menu, select "Plain Number 3". This option places the page number in the upper right corner of the page.
  6. The page number will automatically be added to every page of your document.
