I love AU. A lot of students like to complain, but overall it really isn't bad. My professors have been great, it's in a great location, and people here are very kind. People really like to complain about the food, but in the past couple years it has gotten much better. I do wish there was more school spirit though.

love au, the student body is awesome and the campus is awesome, esp for a city school

I've loved my time at American. Context: I'm a Political Science major. The school is great, great gyms, great clubs, great frats, great teachers, great campus, and great opportunities. I got an internship on Capital Hill as a freshman thanks to the club program here. This school will support you through everything. Plus DC is a great college town!
Bad reviews

I graduated from American University over 20 years ago and I never got a job related to my degree and I have never had a career of any kind. I applied to thousands of jobs over the last 20 years and not one resulted in an interview because I went to American University. The Career Center was no help and neither were any of my professors.
Overall 1.2
Zero freedom of speech. I was censored when I speak up against racism, censored by the school and the students.
Overall 1.3
It's now my third year at American University and I deeply regret attending this school for many reasons. Some of these reasons include the isolated campus, very strange social culture, expensive schooling costs, lack of diversity, untrustworthy cleaning staff, sense of entitlement by students, unhelpful financial aid services, and much much more.
Overall 1.8
I decided to transfer here and it was a mistake. The people are terrible, and so is the administration. Housing is garbage, left me and one of my suitemates in physically and mentally dangerous housing situation without any rush to help despite our constant pushing. Location is far from the center of DC, opportunities are few and far between. BAD.
Overall 2
Fraudulent administration and miserable student body.
