Looking for a supportive school that cares about your success? Choose Black Hawk College. They care about their students' success, safety, & well-being. Always free food & gear! They offer a food pantry for the students. My professors helped me understand the subjects & worked with me to make up missed assignments. I have had a great experience.

Very great school

I LOVE my school. Great teachers.

So far the professors seem like they at least care about their students. Everyone is pleasent and the technology is pretty nice. I wish it had a green house or maybe a trail system through the woods. Even a bike path would be nice. Very happy with my decision to go here! Tuition costs are also a nice plus.

I attended BHC back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. BHC provided an excellent foundation for those of us planning on transferring to a four-year school. The transition to the university work load was not easy but we saved a fortune by starting at BHC and finishing at a university. I'd strongly encourage others to do the same.

There are a lot of conveniences here. I like the campus, but the buildings could have been planned better in terms of the numbers and layout.

Black Hawk is a great school. I saved a ton of $$ by going hree before I finish at a 4-yr. school, and I'm so glad I did! I know people with $50K in student loans at other schools, and I'm not gonna be one of them. Great profs, too. Lots of compassion and they seem to care - so far so good.

They gave our class the exit test when we were in the 3rd week of our 8 wk class. That is just stupid and typical of life at the dirty bird.
Overall 1.5
Some instructors won't even reply to an email. Most don't care that you are there. Some just want to show that they are smarter than you. Their stated core values are a joke, they don't follow them. Want a real education? Go elsewhere.
Overall 1.5
Ask how many of the professors are actually published or really working. I went to Iowa City. My profs in the English department were real. That's not the case at the dirty bird. I swear my eng prof did not know the differance between a comma and a colon. She had me putting my heading information on the right side of the page.

It's cheep.

The exit examination is a huge problem. Can anyone even tell me why we are forced to take it?
Overall 2
You certainly get what you pay for at this college (it's cheap). My stay here just keeps getting extended because the incompetent advisors let me know once I've completed a course, that they've told me to take, that I did not need it. I think they do this to make as much money as they can, by wasting our time and money. Don't recommend this school.

Great school if you don't mind spending 5 years to get your associates! Great advisors if you don't mind being thrown in multiple unguided directions! Seriously, go to Scott or a real 4 year college. I'd rather be in debt then to have wasted this much time of my life.
