Wonderful school

I personally think that ECU it's an amazing University if you are on a Design Major, amazing teachers, amazing studios, interesting classes, I feel like I learned A LOT. Both practical and theory were fantastic. Definitely worth it, I love what I'm doing. But apparently other majors aren't as good as Design, so thats definitely a con.
Overall 4.2
I'm 3rd year at ECU and it's the best opportunity Ive ever had. Ya you can learn to be an artist w/o school, but the skills I've built and the mentorship here seem incomparable to anything I could've done on my own. However, I recommend having at least some idea of who you are as an artist before starting or you'll waste a lot of time

Ok here is the honest run down of ECU ecu is whatever you make it, there is every club or group under the sun to be apart of, the library and studios are insane, food is good! (mac n cheese kinda sucks) i had a bad first year because of how i viewed things, but if you go into the school eager to succeed, you will - speak out BFA
Overall 4.2
In general, I think ECUAD is quite good. The professors are tender and the students are not as mean as others said. It is a good university. I think whether or not you have a good experience in it depends on your own personality.
Overall 4.2
I've only had one bad teacher at this school. Very hands-on practice, I especially recommend the drawing classes because there's nothing better than just getting in there with some live models and charcoal. Not everybody jives with it, but it's a really good fit for me and I'm at home here. Thinking about going onto my master's degree!
Overall 4.1
This is a super fun school full of the most diverse, intelligent, creative and hard working people I have ever met. If you are at all interest in fine art, different kinds of design, or technology and media, come join us.
Overall 4.1
Feel satisfied so far. Looking forward to my second year of study.
Overall 4
I think it is an amazing school with many great opportunities for current students and future students. However, I do think that there could be more... such as; fashion because I feel like a lot more students could enjoy doing something like that. I also think that we should have housing with the large population of international students.

The bridge between abstract theory and practical knowledge is literally inexistent at this university.
Overall 1.4
Studying here was the worst decision of my life. A complete waste of my youth and money. I envy real art universities.
Overall 1.5
If you're serious about your career this really isn't the school for you. In the few classes actually related to my major teachers would just give us our assignments then leave, hoping we'd figure things out on our own. By the final year the vast majority of my classmates were struggling with the most basic skills needed to work in the industry.
Overall 1.6
The school requires you to take 3 useless language arts courses with loads of homework every week. Computers here have missing keyboard keys, broken mouses and the monitors randomly reboot.
Overall 1.6
The new campus absolutely blows. Dangerous area to walk in (lots of female students report being attacked, even in daylight) lots of theft of University property. Overpriced cafeteria food handed to you cold, in saran-wrap. Profs who are resistant to change, and couldn't care less about teaching any sort of technique.
Overall 1.7
Emily Carr might sound impressive in family reunions due to its fake reputation. However, the art director of your dream job knows that if you graduated from ECU, you will either lack the most basic foundation skills or that you had to go and learn everything on your own. In any case, they will expect technical lack from you... true story.
Overall 1.7
A great place to study if you want to learn nothing for actual industry work from faculty who have absolutely no idea what they are teaching and do whatever they want because they are "artists."
Overall 1.7
At the new campus, I sat down in a chair in the theatre, and it collapsed. I moved to another chair, and its arm fell off. In another class, we had to leave the blinds up all the time, because "the blinds are broken." We left Granville Island for this?
Overall 1.7
New campus, same intolerant instructors. Really, there's nothing around except for the expensive cafeteria. The profs I complained about since I was in foundation year are still here despite the terrible reviews they get each semester (now people just avoid them). I swear I can smell the studio instructors' insecurities about their own practice.
Overall 1.8
ECU was a mistake for me. I was there for the training, which I never got. Schoolism and other internet alternatives would have been better ways to get real knowledge and contact with people willing to share their REAL experience in the industry. At the end, I got an animation job, but I'm still working on the harm done to my health and mind.
