Caring instructors. Many wonderful opportunities in clinical areas that really helped me prepare for practice.

My friend at Mercy told me to take english at Mercy because they teach APA and I'm so glad I listened. I walked into other classes (especially psychology) knowing exactly how to do my papers and wasn't freaking out.
Bad reviews
Overall 1.4
Having graduated from another university in the great state of Iowa, this is HANDS DOWN the WORST college I have ever been to. Some "professors" are defensive at every question you ask, no focus on skills in their brand new BSN program, completely unfair to students, no communication, no administration, and expensive. Literally, DO NOT GO HERE!!

I believe the testing in NSG 102 and 132 skills course testing for scenario testing needs to be more objective, by having everyone's scenarios filmed.
Overall 1.8
Many of the professors over rely on powerpoints. The teaching is of poor quality 1/3 of the time. This means you teach yourself a lot of the material. The professors write the rules for their classrooms. They are overall very rigid about rules to the point of being ruthless. Overall, a lack of flexibility exists as part of the culture.

Specifically to the nursing program--more focus needs to be on skills. A lot of instructors don't care if you pass or fail. Students best interest isn't in mind. Spent thousands of dollars for not the best education. Choose DMACC.
Overall 1.9
The school has a reputation of low nclex pass rates at the moment. The issue is how they constantly are experimenting, and make massive changes semester to semester. This school is currently lacking it’s own individuality when it comes to nclex preparedness.
For the price it isn’t worth considering. If you do attend it’s all self taught.
Overall 1.9
The saying nurses eat their young is very true when it comes to the teachers of the nursing program. There are constantly new rules and regulations that come out of the blue. You can never do anything correctly. I definitely would not recommend Mercy College to anyone.
Overall 1.9
School is set up in trimesters. Nursing students were supposed to have a summer graduation, and they just cancelled it last minute. We have to graduate a trimester before we've finished school. Horrible administration.
Overall 2
Local hospitals dont like hiring MCHS students. Students in the nursing program have around a 15% to actually graduate. With 49% failing after that have officially entered the nursing program, and out of those that do graduate, NCLEX pass rates are in the low 80s. Administration is predatory and will fail student in their senior year. Go elsewhere
