SMCC is a wonderful school, and an unbeatable value. For anyone with any financial sense it is obvious to take your first two years of college here and then transfer; saving thousands of dollars in tuition expenses.
Overall 4.4
Definitely does not deserve the bad rap people give it. Just because it's a community college does not mean it's a mediocre school... far from it. If you have an interest in Communications and New Media, there is no better school in the state for this focus. It blows Husson University out of the water in all respects. Highly recommend.
Overall 4.4
The location is beautiful. The school is overlooking the ocean. In the fall and spring you can sit on the outside patio of the cafeteria and have an ocean view. The staff care about the success of their students. Their moto is that every student counts.

Ive been going here, part time, for almost 2 years now. My experience, so far, has been wonderful! All of the staff Ive met have been super nice and the advising center rocks! Every professor they have suggested has been great! The flexible classes are great too, because Im a full time mom and I work part time as well. Definitely recommend them!

SMCC is a good school. The tuition is reasonable and the staff are phenomenal. I'm an older student and struggle with my peers not being able to turn in assignments on time or meet deadlines. Regardless, I'm grateful to be back in college and living the dream:)
Overall 4.3
Great little school nestled on the Maine coast. SMCC has a great reputation among the medical staff at the region's primary hospital Maine Medical Center for its programs training medical professionals.

I'm a full time student and I truly love this school. It isn't perfect but nothing is lol. The advisors and instructors are helpful and encouraging. There is always someone 2 talk to if you're having a problem. You just have to reach out and say whats on your mind. This is my first year and I love it here!

I love the faculty at this school. they are there to teach, and they really know their subjects. Also, college on the beach!

SMCC is a terrible school. Nuff Said.
Overall 1.2
Dorm buildings are disgusting and were shut down multiple times for asbestos and mold. Both buildings are falling apart.
Overall 1.2
No social life around here unless you count the bars in Old Port. Food is grosser then what i imagine prison food to taste like and in general this place makes me depressed as heck because its honestly that awful. At least its kinda cheap? lol
Overall 1.3
This school cares about one thing, money. Good luck getting a spot on campus if you arent out of state, even returning students are put on a waitlist to get as many new out of state students as possible(because they pay more $$). I have met some amazing and knowledgeable professors, as well as some of the most arrogant uneducated “professors”.
Overall 1.6
Way too many adjunct teachers. My high school teachers were more professional than these instructors. The college is very good at taking students' money and then ignoring student needs.I would not recommend this school.
Overall 1.7
The beach is nice and the location near downtown Portland is helpful but everything else is honestly not that great.
Overall 1.8
this is the school to come to while your waiting to get into a better one.

It's ok if you're 18 and have nothing else to do.
