This is a great school with even better people. The staff and faculty are very supportive of their students. Because of SMSU's size, you can make a lot of close relationships with people. My biggest piece of advice would be to get involved in as much as possible. Your time at SMSU is what you make of it. Also, join Enactus! Best club on campus!

I love SMSU. My professors are incredible and really get to know you as a person. Pretty campus. Great facilities. Affordable tuition with good scholarships. SMSU ranks as a top university for Return on Investment. The residential restaurant will double in size by Fall 2017 with more dining options. Nice people. Great school spirit! Go Mustangs!

I love this school. It's where you belong! (:

Very friendly. Its in the medium-large range schools (much bigger than tech schools, smaller than the mega campuses). Teachers know there stuff and I have the school to thank for my first year, $100,000 per year job.

It is a top notch school at a low affordable price. Teachers are great, and has one of the best psychology programs in the state. One of the best aspects is the schools emphasis on internship programs, which they set you up with. It is why I have a career to this day.

I love it! Southwest Minnesota State University feels like a private college at public university costs. Professors are talented and caring. Class sizes are small. Students are welcoming. If you don't need the excitement of a big, urban university, it could be a great fit. I discovered SMSU on a ranking of colleges with the best ROI. Awesome place!
Overall 4.3
Small community feel. If you want to make a difference and get your name out in the community, its great! Join clubs and organizations to get networking opportunities. Business majors JOIN Enactus. It's hard work, but extremely rewarding. Glad I did it my Junior and Senior year.
Overall 4.2
Very nice school. Most of the dorms are old with no AC, but that’s only a problem the first few weeks. I was in an arts dorm and met some really good friends with common interests. small classes, so you get to know the professors really well.
Overall 4.2
SMSU is one of those places where you get out what you put in. If you are willing to put yourself out there to meet people there will be more opportunities than you can take.
Overall 4.2
SMSU is a super friendly campus, with lots of caring teachers. It is a little behind on technology, but is good enough. I'm more than satisfied with my choice to come here!

One of the most disappointing colleges I've attended and I have 4 degrees. The teachers don't care about their classes or their students. It shows. The instructors are disrespectful, uncommitted and care very little if you learn anything. Such a shame I had to pay for an education like this. I should have transferred when I had the chance.
Overall 1.3
very boring
Overall 1.5
I went to SMSU for a year and a half. Looking back it is a good place to go to get your grades up from high school and meet new people. Some of the faculties are set in 1975, some 2009ish. Not very spread out. Food needs improvement. The town is actually very depressing and close to nothing. I'm glad that I transferred out but miss some friends.

I am a recent graduate of SMSU and what I can tell you about my experience, is that at SMSU, you are guaranteed a fair educational experience at best. Don't get me wrong. As far as social experiences go, SMSU is a great campus for making lifelong friends who you can rely on. Some teachers care. others dont.
