Absolutely love it.

SUNY Albany is hands down the best spot for grad studies. Came from NYU for my undergrad and, wow, the difference in professor quality and academics is night and day, and all that for a fraction of the cost. Only bummer? The campus area's kinda dull. Find a place in a livelier spot like Center Square, by the downtown campus.

Its a great school overalls

As a commuter student I absolutely love going to UAlbany. I have met some really great people within my major and have connected with multiple professors who have acted as great mentors to me throughout my time here. I can't speak for living on campus, but most of the people that I know who live there don't seem to mind it too much.
Overall 4.4
I believe that this University is a good institution to study at but I believe that there should be better food options.
Overall 4.3
Not the best, but it could be way worse.

Typical R1 research university. It has its problems, but basically only ones every university on the planet has. The city around campus is very car-dependent, as a warning.
Overall 4.2
The school is large and during the spring/fall is beautiful. Needs major updates though! The school is working on them but they should have been done a long time ago for the price students have to pay to attend.

Vote Republican down the line, not anymore Democrats. They just announced they’re raising the tuition on SUNYs including Albany and SUNY Albany is suppose to be an affordable state school. The prices on things just keep rising here. Maybe might transfer to community college.

State schools are not cheap anymore. The amount of financial aid hasn’t gone up while tuition keeps going up.

This school is horrible. The professors don’t care and the administrators just want your money. Way too many administrators with fat salaries that don’t do anything and just are there to cover their own a$$. Go somewhere else, like Buffalo, Bing or Stony if you can.

Unsafe school, poor consent culture, academics kinda shaky right now. I am really disappointed with how the administrators dealt with my campus sexual assault and trying to sweep it under the rug. The more people I talk to, the more common it seems here.
Overall 1.5
Spent a year, hated it, and ended up transferring out after a year. The quads are a nightmare: bad food, broken laundry, thieves, 24/7 fire alarms, etc. There's no where to go outside of campus, especially without a car. Most professors are actually kinda nice but programs and opportunities are few. If you hate parties you'll 1000% hate it here.
Overall 1.5
I was excited when I started here as a student a year ago but I won’t be going back. Lots of problems with safety and consent culture and the administrators don’t care, just want to hush things up, I am still traumatized by the school’s response and how they treated me.
Overall 1.6
Most dorms have no AC, and you have to share a bathroom with 30 other ppl, unless you’re rich and connected and you get a nice dorm. Most professors say they care about students but only a handful actually knows how to teach, and won’t give students the time of day. Food is expensive, I had better food and living when I was in juvie than here.
Overall 1.6
Peeps be writing like they expecting fine dining and 5 star hotels here. Facts is if you got connections you can get a nice dorm room. If not you get rings around your toilets, leaky roofs and they ignore you if you complain. Otherwise the school is mid.
Overall 1.6
Not sure what it is but tbh things feel bad at the school. Profs are complaining about cuts and having to do more, and things are getting harder with financial aid. My family had to pay more so they won't put a freeze on my registration so I can take classes to graduate. So glad I'm graduating and moving on with my life.

Agree that this place is not the best but it’s what you make of it, like anything you do in life. Budget cuts, messed up buildings, leaky dorms, safety issues and problems with consent culture, it’s all true. I decided to come here because it was closer to nyc where I’m from. If I knew, I would have picked differently.
