UAB is the best decision I could've made for myself. ESPECIALLY if you're STEM. We are a top 8%, & our medical schools are among the best GLOBALLY. Research labs, orgs, brain labs, concerts, free tutoring, puppies, symposiums & expos, opportunities for ALL students. The location is beautiful, & we are one of the largest universities nationwide.

Great campus, being downtown is off putting for new folks but it works out in the long run. Super close to jobs for students, clubs, and great food all over the city within walking distance of the campus.

I've attended school in Cumberland College, Ky and Jacksonville State University. I thought Cumberland was exceptionally inviting. UAB is very great with incoming students and keeping them engaged for the duration of their time here.

UAB is full of great opportunities, especially in research. I have never had a bad professor. People are so nice. Super diverse campus. Lots of fun too.

They could care less about you
Overall 1.2
I would never recommend UAB to my worst enemy.
Overall 1.4
The major I am pursuing offers no in-person courses. It is just a way for the university to charge online tuition rates. Knowing that the courses I needed for my major were only offered online. I would have just went to Strayerjokeinstead. It's sad, it has been proven that people learn better in person. Does not offer courses in catalog as well.

Unsafe campus
Overall 1.7
I've lived in Bham my whole life and UAB is just alright. Parking situation is improving slightly but still so bad. If you're a commuter, you might find it hard to make friends. Food sad. Rotating the same 4 places to eat gets boring cause commons is prison food. Opportunities come by if you're a great student but you have to be proactive.
Overall 1.8
No campus culture; not a friendly place. Campus is just a part of downtown; a really run down vibe. Beware of the homeless population. Professors don't really care about their students. UAB's resources are geared mostly towards med students. Little to no parking since they keep building new structures on top of their parking lots. Depressing place
