Ive never had a problem with the staff, facilities, or getting into that class that I need. Smaller campus but has a great reputation

Great school!

UIS is a phenomenal school. It is inexpensive, and being a satellite campus of UIUC, it looks good on a resume.
Overall 4.5
I truly enjoy UIS, small campus charm in a larger University

very good school

I am very happy with my choice to attend UIS. Those who are unhappy and claim there is "nothing to do" are just creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. You're only as bored and alone as you wish to be. The campus provides lots of opportunities to have fun and meet people. Staying in your room bored and alone is your own choice.
Overall 4.3
If you are looking for a small school, this is perfect for you! Very isolated location, but very nice people all around. Food is very greasy, but there are also options like a salad and sandwich bar. All around great campus.
Overall 4.3
UIS is a small campus, but if you're looking for something to do you'll find it. The residence halls are great. I love the suite style living, I was afraid of sharing a bathroom with everyone on my floor so when I found UIS it was great! I have also already started to get great experiences for my resume!
Bad reviews

Unorganized. This is my second year and they are still asking me for my high school transcripts because they "don't have them on file". Unbelievable.

professor never reply the email and never in the office. not knowledgeable.
Overall 1.5
The school is an absolute disgrace to the University of Illinois system. For people that said this school was difficult were completely wrong. This school is very simple compared to real schools like UIUC. The CAP program is horrible, and if you are in it and transfer you will lose at least 12 credit hours. NOT A COLLEGE EXPERIENCE...DO NOT ATTEND!
Overall 1.6
The sole draw to UIS is that it is affiliated with the University of Illinois network. The campus is tiny and the social life is nonexistent. Teachers and instructors at this institution as well as the students are only interested in barely passing classes, not learning or bettering themselves. Going there was a mistake and I'm glad I transferred.

:(
Overall 1.7
One word can sum up UIS - mediocre. The food is mediocre, the classes are mediocre, the people who work there are mediocre. This is a real shame because the University could be great, but everybody (teachers, students, staff, etc.) just try to get by with the bare minimum, making for a mediocre experience.
Overall 1.8
UIS was decent before COVID. After, a majority of the school has gone downhill. Advisors are useless. Administration and faculty are disorganized and don't seem to care much. Professors are hit or miss based on your major. Food/location bad. Only come if you need a cheap college degree, otherwise I suggest looking elsewhere. Its going downhill.
Overall 1.8
I would rate school on average. The classes for the MIS Department filled up fast for summer and fall 2014. Me and the other international students couldn't get into our classes and the Professor's didn't respond to emails.
Overall 1.9
The social situation on campus is a very exclusive towards outsiders. I have struggled to find a sense of purpose here, and the faculty unfortunately make the situation worse by being distant, cold, and unwelcoming. They seem unresponsive to my concerns, and I wish I never came here.
