I originally avoided going here the first time I went to school because I wanted to go away from home, and I didn't realize how great it was. I transferred in and the 2 years I spent as a student here were great! They do everything they can to make you graduate on time, and the professors in the COB are great. I almost don't want to graduate yet.

I absolutely love UMW. Almost every faculty or admin I have ever interacted with makes student's need their top priority, and are always open to suggestions. Everyone I know loves it here, from Devil Goat Day to CBP movies and the JFMC--personal fav. I would highly recommend touring our beautiful campus and neighboring Fredericksburg area downtown!
Overall 4.7
When researching future colleges, I knew I wanted to attend a four-year university. I had looked into plenty of schools in state and out of state, but Mary Washington had always come back in my search. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t particularly glamorous to me at first. Portion sizes could be bigger in dining. Convenient for a commuter student too.

I have gone here for three years and I love it. Mary Washington is the best decision I have ever made in my life.
Overall 4.6
Way underrated, School spirit can be a little lacking but still the best dining hall of any school I've visited in terms of food quality. Great location between Richmond and DC. Super beautiful campus with a diverse population of students. Decent Social opportunities but not as much as you may find at a bigger school. Involved and invested faculty.
Overall 4.6
This has the best of both worlds, small community-minded campus in a charming small town on a river, but access to DC and all of its opportunities.
The faculty and staff are incredibly supportive, and the student body is welcoming and diverse. I've really enjoyed the rowing team.
It's not as well known as it should be for the quality and price.
Overall 4.6
UMW is an awesome school. Join clubs, club sports, and get involved and you'll meet a lot of people and friends! Food is subpar but the people are amazing. You can find parties but it is easier if you have sports team connections. BROCKS THURSDAYS FOREVER oh and the professors are extremely dedicated.
Overall 4.6
Best decision I ever made! Professors are terrific! The class sizes are no bigger than 25, some get as small as 10! Professors get to know you. Dean of students dresses up like Pooh on Halloween and hands candy out. Theres no place more beautiful in the fall than UMWs campus. ITS A GREAT DAY TO BE AN EAGLE

About as lame as it gets. Professors are subpar. I deeply regret attending UMW.
Overall 1.3
don’t go here it sucks. no opportunities to have fun or explore the area. the people here suck and are weird. definitely transferring. regret coming here instead of jmu or vt. thought a small school would be fun, maybe it is at a different school but DEFINITELY not at UMW.
Overall 1.6
Transferred after my freshman year. I think Covid really ruined this school. I have a lot of reasons for leaving that aren't the fault of UMW, but its not the place to be either way. Academics are eh, social life sucks, clubs are eh, and there isn't much to do if you're not loaded. Food and dorms are awful.
Overall 1.9
The only thing this school is good at is false advertising. They advertise plentiful and healthy food options and modern new dorms when they continue stripping students of both. Don't go here if you care about your health and don't like being lied to...
Overall 2
Everyone is nice, so that's a plus. Still, the ground around campus is so uneven. There are rats & roaches in Willard hall. The food is awful and the same every single day. The internet is basically non-existent, I'm having to use data on my phone at all times. There's nothing to do on campus especially weekends. The only pro is the campus safety.
Overall 2
Professors are garbage but Fredericksburg is great.
