Great school -- like life-- u get out what u put in. Facilitators available at every turn. Options are endless.faculty is accessible to everyone. Jump in the deep end and start swimming my little tadpoles. You will find that the water is perfect - opportunities are endless. Have fun!!! :-) Alum '95

This school is actually so nice! When i first transferred in I was unhappy because I spoke to no one and did the bare minimum which was go to class and go back home immediately after. At UMBC you need of involve yourself in activities, clubs, etc. in order to make the college experience you want.
Overall 4.3
I started at UMBC in 2019 and have loved this university ever since! The people are friendly, food is good and professors are knowledgeable in their major. Although, I have not had the chance to be involved with any clubs due to schoolwork I would have loved to had this opportunity. I will rave about my experience at UMBC for years to come.
Overall 4.2
I love UMBC! I am a commuter student so I didn't really care about the social aspect. I loved all of my professors and they all seemed to really care about their students. The school isn't a big school so I felt comfortable. I do not have any complaints about UMBC. Some schools truly do not care about their students and I can't say that about UMBC.
Overall 4.2
Great school all around. Lots of opportunities to succeed.
Overall 4.2
It took me a minute to get adjusted, but once you find the right group of people, it makes things way better. I just wish there was a better town life since you have to walk like a mile to get to the town but that's about my only issue with it. Also, the campus and gym are pretty much brand new and everything s beautiful and clean.

E. Professors are inappropriate, inept, & ill-skilled - deliberately grade harshly, failing students, having to pay again in retaking the course, keeping them in business. Their inconsistent grading systems have side effects that interfere w/learning.
Overall 1
The English depart. has lost their position & its sense of purpose. Enrollments have diminished. Great lit. is viewed as a source of oppression & social control instead of revealing truth & exploring universal ideals.
Overall 1
Test crazed and plagued with inequities. Large number of traumatic experiences of students being given massive amounts of schoolwork.
Overall 1
Whether lack of understanding, ignorance, or inaccessibility throughout campus, its a huge disadvantage for disabled learners wanting to pursue further education. Quite frankly, its unfair & discriminatory, including religious beliefs to ensure they have the opportunity to succeed in each class b/c theyre just as important as any other student.
Overall 1.4
The school of UMBC is a disappointment in every way possible. The professors are DOG and irrelevant, the course material is busted, and the campus facilities are poorly maintained. However, the one redeeming quality of this lackluster institution is its dedication to student safety since I only got raped once.

UMBC is much like other schools. Nothing really stands out about it. However, their pricing is ridiculous considering you don't get much for it. During the pandemic, it only got more expensive. The school itself is not flexible AT ALL!! They don't really even try to work with students and their needs. I don't feel I actually learned much here.
Overall 1.5
Horrible college. Go somewhere else. Faculty & staff hinder, rather than help. The English dept. is the worst. Over-priced. MD is ranked 10. Can't wait to graduate and leave.
Overall 1.5
UMBC deserves a negative happiness & social score - it was so miserable being an undergrad student here, and it can really kill your motivation in class. Food is overpriced. Prof's are decent, but it's always a hassle to get feedback on your projects & exams. TA's are also slow with grading & feedback. Faculty seems to hinder rather than help.
Overall 1.6
I am disheartened that English and Secondary educators lack empathy. They treat students of all ages poorly, discouraging them, making the class nearly unbearable for them.
