YSU accepts almost anyone who applies and offers them a second chance at life. The graduation rate may be low, everyone is given a fair shot. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these; the homeless, tempted-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
Overall 5
Best school on this side of the Mississippi.
Overall 4.8
YSU is an affordable university with many great opportunities. There is so much to do around the campus, and ways to make friends. Whatever major you choose there are great opportunities and most professors are amazing. Despite it being in Youngstown that doesn't mean it's bad. Safety around and within the campus. I have enjoyed it here.

If you are looking for an affordable campus this is definitely the one for you! YSU provides many great opportunities and has a great teaching staff without having to pay a ridiculous amount to attend. Go Penguins!

Literally the worst school to go to. Medical issues aren't really accommodated here (you have to go through so much trouble just for them to go “maybe”) the food places on campus only stay open till 2 other than duncan and chickfila. And the dining hall only stays open till 6:00pm on the weekends.
Overall 1
There is no oversight on the instructors here and they can get away with showing up late to class and leaving class early and grading unfairly. This is especially true with part-time faculty who make up the majority of the faculty here.
Overall 1
Horrible school wouldnt recimmend coming here the employees are rude and disrespectful. People always seem like they have attitudes.
Overall 1.4
I am a transfer student and never have I ever encountered such a boring school nor face rude instructors. Education here is a joke. It's all about the $$ not about your learning! Leaving this place! Wasted my time/$$. There is a high ego here that hinders students learning. Evaluate your instructors behaviors!
Overall 1.5
Don't come to this university.
Overall 1.6
This school has gone downhill. The lack of trust with student organizations, the lack of parking spaces, the literal impossibility of the classes taken here if you fall behind at least a little bit (due to covid) is atrocious. Do not come here if you value your mental health or sanity. It is so hard to make good friends and the faculty does nothing
Overall 1.6
Transferred to YSU and the staff seemed nice at first but after spending a semester here, once starts to notice how things are horribly wrong. Underpaid staff makes them grumpy and not want to help you. This includes even the dean. Advisor "forgot" to tell me to take a certain class and postponed my graduation date by a year. RUN.
Overall 1.6
Nothing is exciting! I have been there for 3 years and don't recommended it to anyone at all!
Overall 1.7
Great school for its professors and curriculum. Unfortunately, many other parts of the experience are a letdown. Parking services is pretty awful and could care less about students or even employees. Grocery options are nonexistent. All non-academic departments are solely concerned about improving the bottom lines, not helping students.
