Solution

The direction of the force acting on the proton can be determined using Fleming's Left Hand Rule. According to this rule, if you arrange your left hand in such a way that your thumb, forefinger, and middle finger are all at right angles to each other, with the forefinger pointing in the direction of the magnetic field and the middle finger pointing in the direction of the current (which is opposite to the direction of motion of the proton, as protons are positively charged), then your thumb will point in the direction of the force. So, the force on the proton will be perpendicular to both the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of motion of the proton.
