Application: A common example of a RIA is a web-based email client like Gmail or Yahoo Mail. These applications allow users to perform tasks such as sending emails, organizing folders, and searching for specific emails, all within a web browser, without the need to download or install any software.

AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML):

AJAX stands for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. It is a set of web development techniques using many web technologies on the client side to create asynchronous web applications. With AJAX, web applications can send and retrieve data from a server asynchronously (in the background) without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page.

Diagram: Imagine a web page that has a part of its data continuously updating (like live scores on a sports website). This part of the page makes continuous requests to the server for data, and updates itself without reloading the entire page. This is AJAX at work.

Application: A common example of AJAX is the Google search. As you start typing in the search box, Google starts showing search suggestions in a dropdown below the search box. This is done using AJAX, where the search box sends a request to the server as you type, and updates the suggestions without having to reload the entire page.
