Election Process of the President: The President is elected by an Electoral College consisting of the elected members of both houses of Parliament, as well as the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of the States and Union territories. The election is conducted by secret ballot.

Duration of the President's term: The President holds office for a term of five years from the date on which he/she enters upon his office. However, he/she can resign at any time by addressing the resignation to the Vice President. The President can also be removed from office by impeachment.

Eligibility criteria for the President: The President must be a citizen of the country. He/she must be at least 35 years old. He/she must be qualified for election as a member of the House of the People. He/she must not hold any office of profit under the Government of India or the Government of any State or under any local or other authority subject to the control of any of the said Governments.
