Solution

(i) The formula for Sodium oxide is Na2O. This is because Sodium (Na) has a valency of +1 and Oxygen (O) has a valency of -2. To balance these charges, we need 2 Sodium atoms for every Oxygen atom.

(ii) The formula for Aluminium chloride is AlCl3. This is because Aluminium (Al) has a valency of +3 and Chlorine (Cl) has a valency of -1. To balance these charges, we need 3 Chlorine atoms for every Aluminium atom.

(iii) The formula for Sodium sulphide is Na2S. This is because Sodium (Na) has a valency of +1 and Sulphur (S) has a valency of -2. To balance these charges, we need 2 Sodium atoms for every Sulphur atom.
