Job Analysis is a systematic process of collecting all information about the job for preparing of job description and job specification meant to selection of employee, satisfaction in job, and motivation etc. It is a detailed and systematic study of information relating to the operations and responsibilities of a specific job.

The purpose of conducting Job Analysis are:

  1. Recruitment and Selection: Job Analysis helps in determining what kind of person is required to perform a particular job. It points out the educational qualifications, level of experience and technical, physical, emotional and personal skills required to carry out a job in desired fashion.

  2. Performance Appraisal: Job Analysis also helps in performance appraisal in the sense that it determines the criteria of evaluation and employees' performance in known against expected roles and results.

  3. Training and Development: Job Analysis can also be used to identify areas where training and development is needed. If an employee isn't performing well, a job analysis can help pinpoint areas where the employee needs to improve.

  4. Compensation Management: Job Analysis provides the information regarding the value of the work which helps in setting up the equitable wage and salary structure. It ensures that the payment made to the employee is fair and reasonable.
