Solution

Mutual inductance is a property of two coils where a change in current in one coil induces a voltage in the other coil. It is a measure of how much one coil will affect the other.

The formula for mutual inductance (M) is given by:

M = (N2 * Φ2) / I1

where:

  • N2 is the number of turns in the second coil,
  • Φ2 is the magnetic flux through one loop of the second coil due to the current I1 in the first coil,
  • I1 is the current in the first coil.

The SI unit for mutual inductance is the henry (H). One henry is the amount of mutual inductance when a change in current of one ampere per second in one coil induces an electromotive force of one volt in the other coil.
